What is rabies disease?

When you are bitten by a rabid animal, then rabies virus enters the wound from the infected saliva, rabies virus travels through the nerves to the spinal cord and brain, which can last approximately 3 to 12 weeks. When the virus reached the brain, the virus multiplies rapidly and passed to the salivary glands. Signs and symptoms begin to present. The death usually happens within 7 days of becoming sick. The wound should be treated in a timely and correct manner, strictly disinfected, the risk of the wound should be assessed. Then rabies vaccine should be vaccinated according to the results. Five-dose rabies vaccine should be carried out on D 0-3-7-14-28 respectively. The vaccination site: adults are injected intramuscularly in the deltoid muscle of the upper arm, and for children, it is recommended to inject the vaccine into the muscle at anterolateral thigh. During the vaccination period, you must pay attention to rest, keep in a light diet, do not drink alcohol, and do not exercise vigorously.

The vast majority of people will not experience any reaction after being vaccinated against rabies, and only some of the vaccinated individuals may experience mild vaccination reactions. Common local injections include redness, swelling, pain, itching, and systemic symptoms such as fever, dizziness, headache, fatigue, general malaise, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, etc. Most of these symptoms are relatively mild and can gradually releases within a few days to a week.
